THE DESIGN SHOW started a few years ago to be the premier and solely event for interior designers & architects in Egypt and The MENA region. THE DESIGN SHOW was envisioned to showcase the entire spectrum of the interior, exterior, architectural, and products' latest design trends in an event that takes place every year. Its first round was in 2016 where it covered the integral design practices and services for residential projects and how their innovations rise year after year to a dynamic rapidly-growing business environment.

Mainly THE DESIGN SHOW creates a space design business culture within comprehensive high-performance practices and encourages innovators to present their solutions to the challenges of design business in Egypt.

It also enriches the Egyptian design sector with the communication it needs, as well as the exchange of thoughts. It became the design hub for The MENA region that attracts investors & business owners from international lands outside of Egypt to cooperate with the Egyptian architects and interior designers.

Tamer Shabana, Founder of THE DESIGN SHOW has a total of more than 25 years of work experience in events management and publishing within emerging and conventional markets including the Middle East, Europe, Canada & USA, and a strong background in business development through managing and creating a wide range of projects globally in a variety of industries. Tamer led events of all sizes and across all disciplines ranging from boutique events to mega-scale shows.

Tamer has shared with us some exclusive statements about THE DESIGN SHOW of this year.

“What distinguishes THE DESIGN SHOW from any other event in the Middle East is that it addresses a conceptual ideology through design solutions. In any exhibition, especially furniture exhibitions, you’ll find the items ready-made already. At the DESIGN SHOW, you’ll find all that’s related to architecture, interior design, and product design all in one place. So, we aim for projects that combine all the signatures.”

Tamer explained that on a smaller scale, as the individual or residential scale, the whole process takes place from A-Z; they brainstorm ideas, start contracting with studios for the panning phase, implement, then start designing the products— custom-made products tailored specifically for this project. As of on a bigger scale, the DESIGN SHOW works on projects inside and outside Egypt. “In previous rounds of the show, groups came from the Gulf to execute their projects or even design their own houses with us. This exclusively happens with us, as we’re identified in the market by our different values, addressing a line of conceptions and thinking, including design solutions and product design.”

Every year, the show upgrades its content. In this round, reputable brands and big names are participating. Many of them are not big fans of participating in exhibitions before because they couldn’t find the event that suits them best, but they found what they were looking for in TDS. Big names like Amr Helmy, Hesham Morad, Mona Hussein, Hesham Ghorab, and many other reputable names are taking part in the event this year, offering solutions for projects and individuals.

“Also, this year, there’s a collaboration between interior designers and manufacturers to produce unique solutions. Architects are super excited to participate in the development and modernization of Egypt. Many of them are already taking part in projects in the New Capital, the New Alexandria, and more, leaving their own marks and prints. This contributes to our mission and vision in THE DESIGN SHOW, which is taking part in the development of the manufacturing industry and being part of the development taking place.”

THE DESIGN SHOW also addresses embassies and entities outside of Egypt. They don’t only export products, but concepts as well.
